Mommaas Model

The Mommaas model is a model, which represents the different domains within the leisure industry. The model consists of eight main domains; these are: Media, sports, entertainment, retail, hotel &catering, nature& recreation, tourism and arts& culture. Those domains are shown in a triangle and are arranged in a special order that emphasizes their relationship to each other. The triangle can be split into “Place-related experiences” on the one hand and “Non-place-related experiences” on the other hand. Beside that another two categories of “passive” and “active” experiences help to make a further distinction between the sectors.(Mommaas, 2000).
