2016

Two practices of hotel & catering are Henna-na Hotel and Citizen M. Hotel. 

 

Henna-na Hotel is the first hotel in the world that is running robots as employees. The robots are executing all the service work, they are taking reservations, caring for the customers and cleaning the rooms.

The hotel is located in the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Sasebo, Nagasaki. The amusement park is known as an „Eco-Friendly Future City“, because it promises many environmental features in order to avoid water and electricity waste or pollution.

These environmental features are also implemented in the Henn-na Hotel.

Since the hotel combines comfort, environmental-friendly accoutrements as well as advanced technology with robots executing the main tasks, it belongs to one of the best practices of Hotels & Caterings under the theme “Innovation“. 

 

The Citizen M. Hotel is located in Amsterdam, Glasgow, London, New York, Paris and Rotterdam.

The slogan “Welcome to a new kind of hotel” already points out that the hotel advertises with newest innovations and technologies and offers its guest a special stay.

The special thing about Citizen M-Hotel that make it stand out from the mass is that they convince with a top modern interior design, free Wi-Fi and free movies on demand.

But the unique idea behind the Hotel, which makes it belong to on of the best practices of innovation, is the possibility to control everything with an IPad. The guests of citizen M. Hotels have the chance to switch on the TV, to control the window blinds or to change the room temperature with an iPad.

 

An innovation is the result of successfully implementing and realizing a creative idea (Amabile).

The whole process of developing a new product or service demands time, creativity and a group of people working together and trusting in a positive result.

The objective when creating an idea for a new innovating and implementing it is most of the time solving a specific problem (Amabile). People are creating a product for example, which is not existing yet, because they feel a special need for it and know that it brings a special value for the economy (Amabile).

When speaking about an innovation the term has always a positive connotation, because innovations always bring positive and valuable rewards about.
